In what was the 1st full on pre-season friendly of the new campaign we invited our friends from Weekley Rovers Jets to the ground for what turned out to be a great night of grassroots football.
On a warm evening we had two of our new players Rico & Jack making debuts in their first full length game and with a couple of regulars not available Benji returned for a cameo role.
With both teams playing some really excellent football it turned out to be a close run game with some great goals.
The Hawks broke the deadlock early on with a great passing move and Big Fil K burst into the box to score rounding the keeper and in similar fashion a few minutes later Benji made it two .
With both teams trying to get the vital next goal it was the Hawks who came the closest after the break with Lewis , Fil and Mark all going close but a spectacular long range shot from Weekley that found the corner followed by a clever corner move that was headed home meant it was 2-2 with 25 minutes to go.
Weekley stabbed home turning a 2 nil deficit to a 3-2 lead and looked like they would secure the win but a period of sustained Hawks attacks led to a thunderbolt from JCR with 15 minutes left to level things up.
Both teams had a chances to score a winner but 3-3 was a fair result it seemed. Lots of positives coming out of the game with some good passing play and massive performances from JCR and Lewis who was man of the match.
